Government of Iceland on the Outcome of the Referendum on the Icesave Agreement home > News from Iceland

The second referendum on the so-called “Icesave” agreement between Iceland and United Kingdom and the Netherlands was held on April 9.  The result was a No vote.  The Government of Iceland issued a statement on the outcome of the referendum and the pursuant work of the Icelandic government.

It should be pointed out that the outcome of the referendum should not be interpreted, as commented by some media or people, to the effect that the United Kingdom and the Netherlands will “not be paid”.  As a matter of fact, the work to reimburse the deposti holders has been going on.

Please visit the website of the Foreign Ministry of Iceland for details of this Statement and other related news: http://www.mfa.is/speeches-and-articles/nr/6250
